Stars Of Hope Charity Fundraiser 2013
The last two Saturdays were spent trooping the "Stars of Hope" charity fundraiser at the Regal 16 movie theater in Pinellas Park, Florida. It was a really fun event. Here's a quick description of how the day went...
The video clips of the droids were shot by Magnum who, along with Savanah Keifer, also took many photos of the event (many included below.) Be sure to check out more coverage on his blog! magnumarts.blogspot.com
Also, I did a quick show-and-tell about my mannequin setup and how I pack Threepio into his transport container... Videos below.

The trash compactor!
Fun crew!
This is Brad and his Artoo.
Chase and Savanna Kiefer.
Coming in from the right is the hand of the extremely talented model builder, Randy Cooper.
Randy had worked on LOTS of films you've probably seen including such flicks as Iron Man2 , Starship Troopers, Alien 3, A.I., Batman Returns and a slew of other awesome movies. Very stoked that he came over to say hello to Artoo and Threepio!
I'll post more photos as I come across them online. If I missed crediting you, let me know and I'll be more than happy to update.
Thank you!

Neck Template
My version of the neck and some templates if you want to make your own.
Enjoy!
T-Nuts-
The movie suits used a similar configuration except with the use of 1/4-turn Dzus fasteners. I've purchased a few of these but I bought the wrong size. Ordering more soon and will post updates as to how they compare.
These are pushed through from the inside of the neck and glued into place.
Looks like this when done.
This sticks out just far enough to grab onto the holes on tabs of the mask's face but don't interfere with the back of the helmet.
Printable Versions below.
Full-Page 11x17 Version
LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES for "Letter" Sized print outs.
Left Right
These need to be printed at 100%
I've added dimensions for anyone who wants to make one from scratch.
Enjoy!

Busy Weekend for the Droid
WHERE SCIENCE MEETS IMAGINATION
Well, this was the last weekend at the Where Science Meets Imagination so, of course, Threepio couldn't miss it. I'm a bit bummed about it leaving the Orlando Science Center. It was a great place for Threepio to do appearances. It was consistent, full of actual Star Wars fans, (which is particularly fun for Threepio) and one block from my brother's house so I would get to see him while I was there. Bonus!
The museum was kind enough to give us some of the staff shirts that were worn for Where Science Meets Imagination. They have one of the classic "A New Hope" poster designs on the front and the back is the "Where Science Meets Imagination" info. Pretty neat.
Looking for photos of this event now.
I'll post photos here as I come across them. One of the Artoo builders got a bit of video.
On the way there I ran into traffic and was late for a Star Wars themed marriage proposal. I was there early enough to see the setup for it but no way to get Threepio setup in time. :(
Here's a clip of it happening. Threepio made it into this video but wasn't there for the proposal.
TAMPA BAY COMIC CON 2013
Today was the second day of the Tampa Bay Comic Con, which was extremely crowded this time. The amount of people was easily 10 times the amount of the last one I went to. They started turning people away. Stopped selling tickets, refunding money for for pre-sold tickets that didn't arrive before 1pm etc. The 501st guys made a spot for Threepio and two R2-D2s and kept the crowd from breaking the droids. There were many photos taken, I'll post here as I find them....
